Supported Permanent Housing

Welcome House has 7 units of supported permanent housing for families formerly experiencing homelessness. In addition, we have 6 units of supported permanent housing for individuals. In total we serve 10 inviduals within our 6 units, and 25 persons within our 7 units of family housing. All of our housing units are within a 1 mile radius of our emergency shelter campus. Each participant in the program pays a monthly rent equal to 30% of their income or the minimum of $228/month (whichever is greater). While in our permanent housing program, clients are engaged in case management and other supportive services. All of our housing units are sober units; we have zero tolerance for alcohol and/or substance abuse.

Individuals in our permanent housing units are either graduates of our transitional housing program, or from outside referrals from community agencies such as the DVRC of South County, South Shore Mental Health, South Kingstown Housing Authority, and United Way.

There is no time limit for the length of time an individual or family can stay in our supported permanent housing program, but we highly encourage participants to gain skills and self-sufficiency in order to "move-on" to permanent housing that does not encompass such intense supportive services.
